Yvette Lucille (Brault) Ratte, died peacefully on July 21, 2023 at the age of 99.
She was the devoted wife of the late J. B. Raymond Ratte for fifty-two years. Yvette was born in Fall River, the youngest child of Edilbert and Berthe (Gagnon) Brault. A life-long resident of Fall River, Yvette graduated from Blessed Sacrament School, B. M. C. Durfee High School, and Thibodeau's Business School. Upon completing her education, she worked at St. Anne's Hospital as a medical secretary in the Record Room. Yvette was a "stay-at-home" mom for seventeen years and then returned to St. Anne's Record Room and later the Operating Room. After thirty-five years, she retired at the age of fifty-nine. Yvette was a communicant of St. Anne's Parish and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne's Sodality.
Yvette's priorities over the years included taking care of her family and father. She enjoyed going to various restaurants with family and friends, attending her children's school and sporting events, and playing cards with family and friends. She also enjoyed summers on the Coles River at the "cottage". Clamboils, cookouts, and family gatherings with her brother, sister, and their families were memorable experiences.
Yvette's passion was always the people in her life. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. Beloved children include: Suzanne Boucher and husband Paul of Somerset, MA, Diane Wurster and late husband Bruce of Cincinnati, Ohio, Marc Ratte of Middletown, Delaware, and Donald Ratte of Fall River, MA. She was lovingly called "Mem" by her grandchildren and great- grandchildren including: Andrea and husband Michael, Kyle, and Eric Johnson of Salem, CT, Magan and husband Benjamin, and Logan Celt of Middletown, Delaware, Margaux and husband Langdon Alexander, and Beckett Taskes of Tempe, Arizona, and Matthew Ratte and fiancée Erin Drysdale, and Sloane and Savannah Ratte, Tommy Lawhorn, and Kayleigh Lawhorn of Middletown, Delaware.
Yvette was predeceased by her sister Lorraine Jackson and husband Edwin Jackson, her brother Maurice Brault and wife Lorraine Brault, and her sister-in-law Irma Teves and brother-in-law Richard Teves. Her nieces and nephews who referred to her as "Matante Yvette" were members of the Brault, Jackson, and Teves families. Yvette was "Mama Ratte" to Colette M. Boucher Gagnon.
Yvette leaves dear friends she made over the years including those friendships she renewed by attending luncheons with the Classy Ladies, and attending various cultural events. She also had treasured friends at Ropewalk Condominiums. Yvette had a special place in her heart for each and every person in her life. She was a kind soul and had the ability to make everyone in her life feel special. She will be loved forever and greatly missed.
Yvette received excellent and compassionate care from the dedicated staff at Catholic Memorial Home. The family will always be grateful to these exceptional people.
