Sonia I. Bermúdez

Sonia I. Bermúdez, 57, of Cranston, Rhode Island passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021.

Employed as a union housekeeper, she worked at The Biltmore Hotel and Rhode Island Hospital.  Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of Guillermina Vazquez Bermudez of Comerio,Puerto Rico and the late Tomas Bermudez.

Many years ago,Sonia was a cosmetologist who owned her own salon in Puerto Rico and was proud to be a majorette there as well. Her positive energy, sassy and outgoing vibe was well known and appreciated by her many friends and family. Known as a “Diva”,Sonia loved to dress up and do her makeup. A devoted mother, she loved to cook and clean.

She leaves a daughter, Ciomaris Torres (companion Alexis Caraballo) and a son, son Amed Jose Torres (companion Emily Branch) all of Providence, Rhode Island; two grandchildren Michael A. Torres and Lexmari C. Caraballo; six siblings, Carmen Milagros Bermúdez Vasquez, Jose R. Bermúdez Vasques, Luz H. Bermúdez Vasquez, Tomas Bermúdez Vasquez, Victor Bermúdez Vazquez and Irma Bermúdez.  Sonia was the sister of the late Gieovannie Bermúdez.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 15, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River.

A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021 at St. Michael's Church, 239 Oxford St, Providence, RI at 10:00 A.M. Meet directly at church.

Burial will be in Puerto Rico.
