Ruth Corbishley Obituary

Ruth G. Corbishley

October 8, 1943 - September 12, 2021

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear sister.

Ruth was born in Fall River to the late James S. and Claire L. Gillet. In her youth Ruth attended Fall River Schools including Girls' Diman. Later, after receiving her G.E.D., she held secretarial jobs in Fall River and New Bedford. In recent years, until her retirement, she was employed by Immaculate Conception F.R. Federal C.U.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband John M. Corbishley, her daugther Lynn Corbishley Norton and her sister Lorraine C. Gillet. Ruth loved animals, especially her last cat, Harry. She was heartbroken when he passed. She was well-liked and had many friends.

Over the past few years, Ruth endured a battle with serious health issues. Ruth always prayed and put her trust in Jesus to help her through dark periods and ill health. She was a fervent member of Christ Temple United Pentecostal Church in Tiverton, R.I.

Ruth is survived by her son, Anthony Weiland of Norfolk, Nebraska and her grandson, Zachary Norton of Fairhaven, MA. She was the sister of Patricia Patenaude, Janet Stanford, Pauline Feliciano, Elizabeth Ann Pavao, James R. Gillet, several nieces and nephews and her longtime best friend Violet D. Raymond.   Ruth loved her family and friends. She is loved and will be missed.

Thank you to all who prayed for Ruth's recovery and/or her release from pain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

A private graveside service by Rev. Jay R. Stirnemann will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Fall River.
