Robert James Viner

Robert J. Viner, 84 of Fall River, MA passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital from Guillain-Barre Syndrome. He was the husband of Susan M. (Hayden) Viner. They shared 22 years of marriage.

Born in Pittsfield, MA, he was the son of the late William and Elizabeth (Doucette) Viner. He was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and Bentley University. He was a tax accountant in Taunton, MA for over 50 years. He was a Master Mason and former member of the Rising Star Lodge of Stoughton. Bob was a Deputy Sheriff for over 30 years. 

Having served faithfully and honorably for over 28 years he retired from the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 464 and Amvets Post 60. Bob was the Commander of the Fall River War Veterans Council and Commander of the Greater Fall River Veterans Council. 

Robert leaves behind stepchildren: Robert Charette, Andrew Charette, Tracy Charette-DaPiedade (husband Emanuel), Christine Charette (fiance Steve Valerio), Bethany Estacio (husband Derick), PattiJean Horton (husband Neil) and nine grandchildren. 

Bob’s family wishes to thank the Intensive and Critical Care Teams and the staff of Atwood 5 of Charlton Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care. 

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 6 from  4:00 to 8:00 PM at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So.Main St.Fall River. His funeral will be held Friday, January 7 at 9:00 AM from the funeral home, with a Funeral Mass at Holy Name Church 709 Hanover St. Fall River at 10:00 AM.  Burial will be private. The family is respectfully asking all attendees to please wear a mask during the visitation and funeral mass. Thank you.
