Richard P. Deschenes

Richard P. Deschenes, 61, also known as D.J. Ricky D, of Tiverton, passed into eternal rest Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at the Philip Hulitar Center in Providence.

He was the husband of Renee (Pineault) Deschenes.  

Rick found a love for DJing at Canoe River Campground and carried that into a 20+ year career as the owner and operator of Shake Rattle ‘n Roll Disc Jockey Service. Rick served as the long term house DJ at Lil Bear Lounge in Tiverton RI and David’s Restaurant in Assonet MA.

Rick was a classic car enthusiast and collector. He enjoyed attending car shows and was a member of The Down Shifters Car Club of New England. Rick had a great love for camping and spending quality time at the campground with his family. He was best known for his campsite breakfast and signature home fries. Rick was also a lover of good food, and especially a lobster roll from Macray’s Seafood. Above all, Rick enjoyed spending time with his family and beloved dogs.

Besides his wife and partner of 31 years, Richard leaves three children, Raymond Deschenes, Rochelle Deschenes and Celanie Norman; five grandchildren, Kayden Gallego, Trevin Deschenes, Kolbe Gallego, Noah Deschenes and Kaleb Gallego; and a brother, Robert Deschenes.  Richard was the son of the late Robert E. Deschenes and Betty Ann (Crook) Deschenes and the brother of the late Roger Deschenes.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass on Saturday, February 4 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Bernard’s Church, 32 South Main St. Assonet.

Reception to follow at the VFW, 134 Shove St. Tiverton.
