Marlene A. (Holland) Souza

Marlene A. (Holland) Souza, 64, of Westport, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023. 

She was the wife of Bruce M. Souza. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage together.

Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late John L. Holland and Lorraine (Vaz) Holland.

Marlene dedicated her career to caring for others. She was a CNA at Prosper at Fall River (formerly  Landmark) on Columbia Street for nearly 22 years. Her kindness and empathy touched the lives of many, and she was beloved by all who knew her.

Marlene had a bright disposition on life and was always smiling. She had a great sense of humor, was quick witted, and always made others laugh. She enjoyed spending time with family, reading, watching movies, shopping, and most of all she cherished taking care of her granddaughter, Lily.

Besides her husband, she leaves three children, SMSgt. Jason Souza, USAF, Ret. (wife Jennifer) of Bossier City, Louisiana, SMSgt. Derek Souza, USAF, Ret. (his wife Maj. Dawn Souza, USAF, Ret.) of Surprise, Arizona, and Lisa Papoula (husband Karl) of Westport; a granddaughter, Lily Rose Papoula; three siblings, Susan Gagne (late husband Gerard), John J. Holland (wife Peggy), and Lorrie Freitas (husband Gene “Mully”); and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 13 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River.
