Manuel A. Flor

Manuel A. Flor, 88, of Fall River, husband of the late Ermelinda (DeRego) Flor, passed away on

Thursday, November 5th, 2020.

He was born in Arrifes, Ponta Delgada, Azores. An employee of South Hampton Princess Hotel,

Bermuda. He loved cars, cruises, tinkering and electronics.

He leaves two daughters, Constance Flor Azadnia of Westport and Rosa M. Carreiro (husband

Joe) of East Freetown; six Grandchildren, Lorie- Lyn Fernandes (husband Jeff), Jeremy and Kelsey Carreiro,

and Emily, Matthew and Nicholas Azadnia; one great- grandson, Ethan James “E.J.” Fernandes

and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joventina DeSousa and Maria

Rosa Resendes and the son of the late Joao Arruda Massa and Maria Gloria (Flor) Arruda.

Manuel Flor was not only the best husband, father, son and grandfather anyone could possibly

ask for, he was also a best friend. He was a strong, hardworking Portuguese man. He had a

smile that would light up a room, and he was that special person you could count on to boost

your spirit with happiness. Wherever he went, he connected with so many people because of

his contagious personality.

You always knew when he entered a room, he would have his Portuguese music blaring in his

ear with a big smile ready and waiting to greet his family. He was silly and funny when he would

join his grandkids singing at the top of his lungs. He provided for his family and he could fix

anything or make anything out of scraps of wood. However, his personality was more vibrant

than his practical outward Portuguese vavo exterior. He was always up for a laugh, and as a

lifelong prankster, he would go to any lengths necessary to get a laugh, especially for his

grandchildren and great-grandson. He enjoyed telling his stories about his time in the army aka

the “tropa” or telling a good joke. He wasn’t the most outgoing man , but whenever a party was

going on he would make sure he was the center of attention to make everyone laugh.

A visitation will be held Monday from 9:00 A.M To 10:30 A.M, with a funeral service at 10:30

A.M At the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, MA. Burial, Notre Dame

Cemetery. Face coverings and social distancing required.
