Joseph Tavares, Jr. Obituary

Joseph R. “Joe” Tavares, Jr., 54, of Fall River, passed away at Charlton Hospital on Monday, September 26, 2022 after a long battle with cancer.

He was the fiancé of Melanie J. Kobylenski; and the son of Jayne E. (Talbot) Tavares and the late Joseph Richard Tavares.

Joseph worked as a counselor for many years in the mental health field, he was an avid New England sports fan who enjoyed playing ice hockey with his son, mountain biking, and spending time at the beach.

In addition to his fiancée and mother, Joe is survived by his son, Dylan J. Tavares; his siblings, Richard Tavares, Kimberly Fitzgerald, Stephanie Tavares, and Heather J. Tavares; his nieces and nephews, Michael C. Tavares, Gina Silvia, Melanie Moniz, Jessica J. Soares, Cameron Tavares, Lindsey Pacheco, Kyle Tavares, R.J. Tavares, Dylan Tavares, and Laurel Pacheco; great-nephew, Nathan Tavares and a great-niece, Aleigh Tavares; and Melanie's children, Sarah Brewbaker, Hannah Brewbaker, and Jonathan Kobylenski. 

Joe was the brother of the late Jennifer L. Pacheco.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Fogland Beach, Fogland Rd., Tiverton, RI 02878.
