John "Jack" Raftery

John “Jack” Raftery, 74, of Bluffton, SC passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. Jack was born in Fall River MA  to Daniel F. Raftery and Dorothy J. Raftery (Cass) and grew up in Tiverton, RI.   He is the beloved husband to Catherine Raftery of 21 years, together for 30.

Jack attended De La Salle Academy in Newport, Rhode Island and was a proud graduate of Providence College.  Jack was employed by the University of Rhode Island for 17 years and retired from Continental Airlines after 20 years.  As an avid sports fan, the highlight of Jack’s working life was the time he spent scorekeeping for the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals.

Jack was known to tell a good story and no one was a stranger to him. He was truly liked and loved by everyone that ever met him, and his biggest joy in life was watching his children and grandchildren play sports, even if it meant driving cross country.

Jack is predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Dorothy Raftery and survived by his wife, Catherine Raftery, and his son Daniel Raftery of Rhode Island.  

Jack is also survived by his three stepchildren, Mindy Snider (Atlanta, GA), Tracey Dembro (Amherst, NH) Tommy MacLane (Freetown, MA) and their spouses as well as his 8 grandchildren; Devahn and Griffin Dembro, Brooke, Madison, Alexandra, Leighton Snider, and Abbey and Ellie MacLane.

A celebration of life and memorial service in Jack’s honor will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 1pm - 3pm at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S Main St, Fall River, MA..The family respectfully requests that all guests wear a mask while inside the funeral home.
