John Duponte, 96, of Tiverton, Rhode Island, passed into eternal rest on Saturday, January 2, 2021.
He was the husband of the late Anne E. (Ives) Duponte.
Born in Tiverton, he was the son of the late Theophilo and Evangeline (Mello) Duponte.
A shell fisherman, who enjoyed gardening and watching football. He was a family man who was always devoted to his wife, daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An Army veteran of WWII, John served as a Combat Infantryman and Sharpshooter in Company B of the 324th Infantry Regiment.
Private First Class Duponte was awarded a Purple Heart and a European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with two Service Stars.
He leaves a daughter, Carole Covey, five grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer, Alicia (husband Keith), John Eric and Tiffany (wife Devan); Eleven great-grandchildren, Aurora, Sierra, Xavier, Aiden, Evan, Logan, Brooke, William, Delinda, Emma and Raelynn; and a great-great-grandchild due June, 2021.
