John G. Burgess

          John G. Burgess, 83, of Fall River, husband of Claire E. (Lachance) Burgess, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021.

          Besides his wife of 61 years he leaves four children, Donna Cote (husband Jeffrey), Michael Burgess (wife Dorothy), Kathleen Aubin and Sharon Burgess; grandchildren, Christopher Aubin (wife Lindsey), Eric Burgess, Meghan Cote and Erin Cote; three great-grandchildren, Connor and Claire Cote and Marielle Aubin; many nieces and nephews.

          He was the son of the late Roy and Dorothy (Manning) Burgess and the brother of the late Richard and James Burgess.

          John was in the Navy Reserve for 8 years. He worked at Brown & Sharpe for 37 years, retiring as the Director of International Sales.      Over the course of his career, he was able to travel the world. Always eager, he retired for one day and then worked on tugboats at Seaboats Inc. - something he was very passionate about. He was also a recipient of the Marian Medal. 

          John was happiest when he was spending time with his family. He had a lifelong love of fishing & boating, which he passed down to his loved ones.  

          A visitation will be held  Friday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River. Face coverings and social distancing required.

His Funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM at St. Louis de France Church, Swansea.

MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH. Burial, St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. (Due to the ongoing pandemic, the family appreciates your prayers from home as well.)

            In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
