Ilene P. (Pacheco) Hayes

Ilene P. Hayes, 86, of Somerset, formerly of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 12, 2022.
She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel J. Hayes.  Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Irene (Mello) Pacheco.
She leaves a daughter, Kimberly Ann Hayes and two beloved grandchildren; Erin Elizabeth Murray and Patrick James Murray, all of Somerset. 
Ilene graduated from the Cape Cod School of Nursing in 1956 and practiced nursing at Beth Israel Hospital in Brookline and St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford.   She was a committed woman of faith, a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother; extremely hardworking, sharp as a tack, good story teller, avid reader, faithful in prayer, lover of dancing, old movies and mystery shows, among many other things.
She embraced the caretaker role and served her own Mother/family from a very young age due to illness and continued tirelessly throughout her lifetime, caring for and serving her family.  Her greatest love and devotion was to Christ and with unwavering faith, passed from this life with expressed eager anticipation and assurance of her home going to Heaven. 
A service will be held privately, per her request, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.  In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorial contributions be sent to His Providence Church Building Fund; 262 Swansea Mall Drive, Swansea, MA 02777.
