Hannah Calista Sullivan, 82, of Portsmouth, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023. Hannah was the daughter of Mark and Hannah (Riley) Sullivan. A graduate of Stonehill College, she earned an M.A. in Medieval Studies at the University of Connecticut and a Doctorate in Education from Boston College. Dr. Sullivan was an educational innovator during her extensive teaching and administrative career in New Haven CT, Boston MA, and most recently at Bishop Stang and Bishop Connolly High Schools.
Hannah loved to sail and owned several sailboats in her lifetime. She was a talented photographer and created beautiful drawings based on her photographs. She is survived by her dear friend and companion, Frances Ann Blumenthal, and her family: Patricia Sullivan, Geraldine Hall, Mark Sullivan, and Catherine Sullivan (husband Peter). She was the beloved
aunt to several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
The family is grateful to the Visiting Nurse-Home and Hospice organization and to St. Clare Newport for their compassion and care during Hannah’s illness.
Her Funeral Mass will be at St. Barnabas Church, East Main Rd. Portsmouth, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 18. Family will greet guests in the church starting at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be private.
