Gloria Belanger-Methot passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at age 98. She was a remarkable person, fluent in French and English. At age 14 she left middle school to take care of her infant siblings. She was married at the outset of the Second World War, and raised three children. Gloria was the intellectual of the family - an avid reader who passed her love of books on to her children and seven grandchildren. Her passing was long and toward the end, in her mind, she returned to her childhood home on Kennedy St. in Fall River, with funny stories of growing up during the depression. Gloria was an amazing cook, a brilliant seamstress, and a lifelong Democrat. Her influence is profound and her life is an example to us all.
Gloria was the wife of the late Ernest Methot, daughter of the late Gustave and Rose (Richard) Belanger and the sister of the late Albert Belanger, Ronald Belanger, Dolores "Dolly" DeGagne and Florice St.Germaine.
She leaves three children, Diane DeSantis of Riverside, Rhode Island, Richard Methot of Fall River and Maurice Methot (wife Victoria Richter) of Providence, Rhode Island; five grandchildren, Michelle Rodrigues (husband Kevin), Kristyn Johnson (husband Todd), Greta Methot (husband Chris), Ilya Methot and Sonia Richter; four great-grandchildren, Jacob Rodrigues, William Rodrigues, Nicholas Johnson and Luke Johnson; one brother, Maurice Belanger of Fall River.
