Gilberto M. Aguiar

Gilberto M. Aguiar, 76, of Fall River, husband of the late Maria F. (Benfeito) Aguiar, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

            Born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores, he was a professional bus driver while he lived there. Upon his arrival to the United States, he worked as a laborer for many construction companies. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, caring for his grape vines, but most of all, spending time with his family, including his children and grandchildren.

            He is survived by five children, Lucy Andrade (husband Antonio) of Fall River, Nelly Ferreira (husband John) of Fall River, Ana Obin of Norfolk, Gilberto Aguiar (fiancée Kim Dias) of Fall River and Kevin Aguiar (girlfriend Michelle Amaral) of Fall River; eight grandchildren, Eric Andrade, Tyler Andrade, Kiana Andrade, Izacc Obin, Christopher Obin, Cayden Aguiar, Emily Ferreira and Leah Mullaney; five siblings, Maria Souza, Mary Jose Cabral, Marianna Benevides, Grace Rodrigues and Amancio Aguiar and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jose Aguiar and John Aguiar and the son of the late Manuel and Maria (Janeiro) Aguiar.

            A visitation will be held Sunday, January 31st from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River.

            His funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 AM from the Auclair Funeral Home with a Funeral Mass at Espirito Santo Church at 10:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery. Face coverings and social distancing required.
