George Lavoie Obituary

George E. J. Lavoie, 98 of Fall River, husband of the late Dorothy (Dollard) Lavoie and Irene J. (Carpenter) Lavoie, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022.

A Fall River Firefighter for 32 years, retiring in 1985, and an Army combat veteran of WW II, he was a Bronze Star recipient and member of the VFW. A graduate of Boston School of Mechanical Dentistry Prosthodontics he was employed by Trudeau's Dental Lab, Somerset and also Auclair Funeral Home and the Lee County, Florida School Department. He attended the former Msgr. Prevost High School and was a member of the B.M.C. Durfee High School Class of 1948. He was an Immaculate Conception Parish, Fall River Troop 18 Scout Leader and a bingo volunteer and Men’s Club member of St. Raphael Parish, Lehigh Acres, Florida. He enjoyed hiking, water skiing, boating and fishing and was an avid camper and traveler.  

He was the father of Jeffrey Heaberlin, George W. J. Lavoie (wife Katherine), Ronna Lemieux-Biello (companion Louis Sikorsky) Richard Lavoie (wife Sarah) and the late Robert Heaberlin; the grandfather of Darlene, Heather, Bobby Jr., Jeffrey, Melissa, George, Christina, Bryttany, Abagael, Alexandria, Richard and the late Bobby; the brother of Lucille Demers and Yvette Berube and the late Arthur, Henri, Wilfrid, Dr. Philippe and Brother Robert Lavoie, S.C. and Claire Neves and also leaves many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Theophane and Lucie (Gagnon) Lavoie.

Visitation, Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River.

His funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Entombment, Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The National WW II Museum at nationalww2museum.org. Online guest book at AuclairFuneralHome.com.
