Eugene McElroy

Eugene McElroy, 80, of Westport, passed away Friday, December 9, 2022. He was the loving husband of 59 years to Madeline M. (Rosa) McElroy.

Eugene was employed by New England Electric and was a member of the North Tiverton Sportsmans Club where he enjoyed spending time with his friends. He was proud to be a United States Army Veteran. He was an avid sports fan. A man of few words but a personality that lit up the room. His famous words of "be good to yourself" will be the way we live life in his memory.

He was the father of Robert E. McElroy and the late Doreen A. McElroy and Brian K. McElroy; the stepfather of Joseph E. Denny and the late Deborah A. Costa; grandfather of Jennifer J. DeMelo (husband Joshua) and Jessica J. Lewis (husband Larry) who were like daughters to him; Angela Costa, Mark Costa, Joseph Denny, Justin Denny, Andrew McElroy, Cory McElroy and Kelsey Adams; great-grandfather of Dylan Ploude, Madison McElroy, Nicolas Lewis, Charlie Lewis, Amaya Costa, Briana Costa, Keith Costa and Cora Adams.

Eugene was the son of the late John F. and Valentina (Walkden) McElroy. He was the brother of the late John McElroy and the stepbrother of William Walkden. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. 

His visitation will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. in the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River. Burial will be private.
