Craig Stephen Mello, aged 59, passed away unexpectedly on March 11, 2024, leaving a profound void in the hearts of his loved ones. Born in 1964 in Tiverton, Rhode Island, Craig leaves behind a legacy cherished by his family and friends.

Survived by his mother, Marguerite Mello, his wife, Kelly, his three cherished children - Ashley Carter (husband Charlie) of Wakefield, RI, Mackenzie Cottrell (husband Patrick) of Tiverton, RI, Cameron Mello and Kayla Davis of Portsmouth, RI - and stepdaughter, Kayla Melo. He is also survived by his brother, Jared Mello of Bristol, Rhode Island, and sister, Kerri Walsh (husband Terry), niece Casey and nephew Liam, of Putnam, Connecticut. Craig will be remembered by his two grandchildren, Boden Carter and Wellesley Cottrell.

Craig's journey began when he graduated from the Rhode Island School of Electronics in 1985, leading to a distinguished career as an Electronics Technician for the U.S Navy and NUWC, spanning 35 years.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Craig's love for the New York Yankees and baseball was unparalleled. He left an indelible mark as a coach for Tiverton High School, the Newport Navy Prep School, and his children's teams. Craig, affectionately known as "Lefty," was honored in the Tiverton High School Hall of Fame as a member of the 1982 Rhode Island Division I state championship baseball team. He cherished time with family, shared his infectious humor, and enjoyed fishing.

Craig possessed a rare gift for connecting with people, inspiring and mentoring countless individuals. His kindness, compassion, and boundless enthusiasm impacted everyone he encountered.

A memorial service to celebrate Craig's life will be held on March 19th from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm at Auclair’s Funeral Home in Fall River, Massachusetts.

Though Craig has left this earthly realm, his spirit lives on through the lives he touched. May his memory serve as a beacon, inspiring us to pursue knowledge and embrace life's passions with unwavering determination.

Rest in peace, Craig Mello. Your absence is deeply felt, but your legacy will endure forever in our hearts.
