Brian M. Vieira

Brian M. Vieira, 71, of Somerset, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021. He was the husband of Suzanne Paquette Vieira, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.

He was the son of the late Manuel J.”Mickey” and Mary D. (Faria) Vieira.

A music educator in the Town of Somerset for 37 years, Brian earned a BFA in music education from Boston University, master’s degree in music from Rhode Island College, and a State of Massachusetts Elementary and Secondary Principal’s Certification. He was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, the Music Educators Association, and the Jazz Educators Association, and he was named twice in the Who’s Who Among American Teachers. Brian was a member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 216 Professional Musicians of the South Coast, where he served on the Board of Directors. He was a member of the Tri-County Symphonic Band and played with the big band The Meadowlarks.

Besides his wife, Brian leaves his daughter, Allyson Vieira (partner Stephen Ellis), his maternal aunt, Olivia Medeiros, sister-in-law, Muriel Driscoll (husband Jack), nephew, Christopher Driscoll (wife Renee), and cousin, Craig Velozo.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. John of God Church, Brayton Rd. Somerset. The family will greet guests starting at 9:30 AM in the church. Burial will be private.
