In loving memory of Barbara Mendonca of Fall River, who passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 10, 2023 at the age of 84. Barbara was the beloved wife and best friend to the late Manuel "Manny" Mendonca for 52 years. Born in Fall River, Barbara was the daughter of the late Valentine Hospod and Helene (Lafex) Hospod and sister of the late Jeannette Longchamps, Beatrice Riley and Helen Zarlenga.
Barbara was a graduate of Mount St. Mary Academy and was employed as a stenographer by Raytheon Company in North Dighton in her early years. Barbara retired from Aetna Life and Casualty in Fall River. During their retirement years, Barbara and Manny created many wonderful memories by spending time with family and friends as well as snowmobiling, RV traveling and vacationing in Myrtle Beach.
Barbara was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Parish. Her greatest joys were her family whom she loved spending time with going to restaurants, attending social gatherings and traveling. Barbara also enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows and found pleasure in reading and word search puzzles.
Barbara was a cherished mother of Russell Mendonca of Fall River, daughter Donna Medeiros and husband John of East Freetown and a proud grandma to Zachary. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Barbara will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Heaven has a very special angel.
Barbara will be remembered with a visitation held on Tuesday, November 21, from 8:15 AM to 9:15 AM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St., Fall River, with a Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Church, Stafford Rd., Fall River at 10:00 AM. Burial at Notre Dame Cemetery.
