Augustino "Gus" Gagliardi, Jr.

Augustino Gagliardi Jr, 89 of Fall River, MA passed away Thursday, March 2 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Annette Gagliardi, to whom he was married for 63 wonderful years. Gus was born in Fall River to the late Augustino and Irene (Raposo) Gagliardi. Gus is predeceased by his brother Frank Gagliardi, sister Rosalind “Lee” Kuhn Costa, and beloved daughter-in-law, Yukiko Kinase-Gagliardi. Gus is survived by his sister Elizabeth “Betty” Ireland Goff (husband George), and his brother and neighbor John Gagliardi (wife Paula).

Gus was a proud U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Sea Bees while enlisted. Gus served his time in Subic Bay, Philippines and the Naval Amphibious Base, Coronado. After his tour, Gus returned to his hometown of Fall River and resumed work as a Union Bricklayer (Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Local 3) for over 50 years.

Shortly after his return home, Gus met and married the love of his life, Annette. Together they had five children, Marie, Christina, Augustino III, Nicholas (wife Julie), and Elise. He leaves behind his devoted grandchildren; Joseph, Nicole, Derrick, Celia, Anthony, Analisa, Nicholas, Michael, and one great- grandchild Claire, along with many nieces and nephews. Gus was always quick to lend a guiding hand to friend and family alike for anything remotely construction related. He enjoyed his retirement years traveling with his wife Annette, fishing and sailing, and being surrounded by family.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 7th , at Auclairs’ Funeral Home at 690 South Main St. Fall River from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Wednesday morning from 8:30 am - 9:30 am. A funeral mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am at Good Shepherd Parish. Burial will follow at Notre Dame cemetery in Fall River.
