Annette Phenix Obituary

Born to the late Origene and Leona (Ethier) Coulombe in Quebec, Canada on June 7, 1917. Annette moved to New Bedford at 7 years old and resided there until 1939 when she married  Leo Phenix Sr. after which she resided in Fall River.

They were married for 61 years and had 5 children: Normand (Susan and Carol Ann), Lillian Caron (Ronald), Raymond (Katherine Caramos and Carol Ann) Leo Jr. (Christine) and the late Robert Phenix.

20 grandchildren: Michael, Normand Jr., Jonathan, Leo, Joseph, Christopher, Marc, Danielle, Robert Jr. and Raymond Phenix, Patricia Sidor, Francine Painten, Christine Sweeney, Nicole Gesner, Ronald, Daniel and Andre Caron, and the late Andrew, Robert and Mary Ellen Phenix. 32 great grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by brothers Romeo, Lionel (Tony), Richard, Jean Marie, Lucien, Gerard, Roland, Roger, Maurice, Wilfred, Donald and Robert(Laurier) Coulombe and by sisters Marie-
Ange Ledoux, Lucille LaFrance, Yvette Fenton, Rita Dupont and Theresa Phenix. She is survived by two sisters-in-law Margaret Coulombe of Connecticut and Patricia Coulombe of New York.

Annette loved her family and her faith; she belonged to the Dames de St. Anne. With her gentle ways, goodness, and life values, she influenced  succeeding generations. We remember the hours Mom and Pop devoted to babysitting our children and their children. As she would say, that is what family does. She was especially fond of large family gatherings when all would get together and play Rough, a card game that lived up to its name and the only time she lived up to the name as well. She was above all famous for her fudge, a recipe she zealously guarded, and her gorton. She also enjoyed sewing on her Old Singer and making quilts for her children and grandchildren. We who love her will miss her; however, her legacy will live on in all of us.

We are extremely grateful to the staff at a the Catholic Memorial Home for the excellent care, love and compassion they extended not only to our mom but all residents. They truly are angels and became a second family to her.

Donations may be made to the Catholic Memorial Home, 2446 North Main St, Fall River, MA 02720 or to your favorite charity.  Her funeral services were private.  A memorial service will be held in the future.
