Yvette (Gagnon) Thibault, 83, of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Golden Crest Nursing Centre in North Providence, Rhode Island, following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Rene N. Thibault, with whom she shared 64 years of devoted and loving marriage.
Born on August 24, 1942, in Fall River, Massachusetts, Yvette lived a life centered on love, family, and connection. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome—whether lifelong friends or someone she had just met. Her warmth, quick wit, and vibrant personality filled every room she entered, and her laughter was truly infectious.
Yvette found joy in bringing people together. Family gatherings were her specialty, always marked by an abundance of food and love. She took great pride in caring for those around her, and her home was a place where everyone felt they belonged. To know Yvette was to know kindness, generosity, and a genuine interest in others.
She carried that same dedication into her work, holding positions at Shelburne Shirt Co., at the Healey Elementary School—where many fondly remember her as the “lady with the big hair”—and later at Stop & Shop in Fall River, where she retired as Seafood Department manager. In every role, she was known for her strong work ethic and for taking pride in doing things the right way.
Nothing brought Yvette greater happiness than her family. She was a loving and nurturing mother, a proud grandmother, and a delighted great-grandmother. Watching her family grow—from her two sons to four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren—was one of her greatest joys and proudest accomplishments.
In her quieter moments, Yvette enjoyed watching television, reading her favorite magazines, and spending time with word search puzzles.
In addition to her husband, she leaves behind her two sons, Kevin J. Thibault (wife Rose) of Groveland, Florida, and Keith J. Thibault (wife Cathy) of Lincoln, Rhode Island; her cherished grandchildren, Matthew Thibault (wife Courtney) of Tallahassee, Florida; Andrew Thibault (wife Patricia) of Groveland, Florida; Luke Thibault (wife Carlee) of Kissimmee, Florida; and Ashley Thibault of Lincoln, Rhode Island; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Jackson, Walker, Kennedy, Fowler, Olivia, and Archer Thibault.
She was predeceased by her parents, Roger E. Gagnon, Sr., and Corinna P. Ouellette Gagnon, and her brother, Roger E. Gagnon, Jr. (wife Christine Gagnon).
Yvette’s presence brought joy, comfort, and laughter to so many, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main Street, Fall River, Massachusetts.
