Verne Schoonover, 81, of Fall River, passed away on June 20, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Muriel (Levesque) Schoonover, cherishing 20 years together in marriage.

Verne began his career as a mason before pursuing a degree in Information Technology, eventually rising to the position of Vice-President in the banking industry. He was passionate about golf in his earlier years and had a lifelong love for music, cars and his loving dogs, Taffy and Pixie.

He was the son of the late Verne Schoonover Sr. and Elizabeth (Carpenter) Schoonover. 

Verne is survived by his loving wife Muriel, his children Karen Glass and husband Scott, Sharron Furtado and husband James, Nancy Schoonover, Christopher Malone, and Kenneth Malone and wife Nila. He also leaves his brothers, George Schoonover, his wife Deborah; and Kenneth Schoonover, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, who he held much pride for.

He was the brother of the late Clifford and Robert Schoonover.

All are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, July 1, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 NOON with a funeral service following at NOON at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River.

Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to his daughter, Sharron's non-profit, Firefighters Wives Association, Inc. 330 Highview Ave. Somerset, MA 02720, in his memory.
