Thomas J. Faris, Sr., 95, passed away on June 1, 2026. Born in Fall River, MA., Thomas was the son of the late John Faris and Mary (Simon) Faris. He was a lifelong resident of Fall River, in the section of the city proudly known as “The Flint,” and remained deeply devoted to his faith, family, country and community.

Thomas was the beloved husband of the late Juliette (Messier) Faris, with whom he shared 55 years of love, companionship, and devotion. Their marriage was blessed with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who became the center of their lives.

A proud veteran, Thomas honorably served his country during the Korean War era as a member of the United States Air Force with the 319th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron. His 8 years of military service reflected his strong sense of duty, patriotism, and commitment to his nation. Following his service in Korea, Thomas was stationed in Florida. During visits home to Fall River, he met Juliette Messier, the woman who would become his wife and lifelong partner. Together, they built a loving home grounded in faith, family, and dedication to one another.

In addition to his wife, Thomas was predeceased by his siblings, Keno Faris, George Faris Sr., Eva Simon, Sally Hetzler, and Agatha Goodson. He shared a close bond with his brothers and sisters throughout his life and treasured the many memories they created together.

Thomas enjoyed a long and successful career in the textile industry, where he worked as a general manager until his retirement. Known for his entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic, he was also the owner of a side business repairing and servicing sewing machines, where his mechanical skill and attention to detail earned the trust and appreciation of many customers.

Not one to remain idle, Thomas continued working and contributing to his community after retirement. He served as a custodian at B.M.C. Durfee High School within the Fall River Public Schools system and later worked as a “runner” at the Auto Auction in Taunton, Massachusetts. Through these roles, he remained active, hardworking, and connected to the people and community he cared about.

His dedication was evident in all that he did. He took pride not only in his own work, but also in helping others find opportunities. He’d often employ individuals who needed work and offered a chance to provide for themselves and their families. His willingness to help others reflected the compassion and quiet generosity that defined his character.

Thomas and Juliette were actively involved in the founding of the Flint Neighborhood Association. Together, they worked tirelessly alongside fellow residents to promote pride in their neighborhood and improve the quality of life within the Flint community. Their efforts focused on reducing crime, combating blight, and encouraging community involvement. Thomas remained proud of the association’s accomplishments and the positive impact it had on the neighborhood and the city he loved.

Thomas was a faithful communicant of St. Anthony of the Desert Church in Fall River, where he and Juliette worshipped for many years. His Catholic faith served as a guiding force throughout his life, providing strength, comfort, and direction through both joyful and difficult times. He remained devoted to his parish community and found great fulfillment in living the values of faith, family, and service.

Thomas was also a longstanding and proud member of the Lebanese American Society, where he enjoyed fellowship, celebrated his Lebanese heritage, and valued the friendships and community connections formed over many years. Thomas also enjoyed visiting the Liberal Club and Blessed Trinity Parish to meet with fellow veterans, sharing camaraderie, conversation, and lasting friendships.

He is survived by his three children: his son, David T. Faris (Judith Catalan); his son, Thomas J. Faris Jr. and fiancée, Mia DeMarco. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Stephanie Beaudry and her husband, Matthew; Thomas J. Faris III and his wife, Samantha; and Courtney J. Faris. Thomas was especially proud of his great-grandchildren, Matthew, Ellyana, and Violet, who brought him tremendous joy and pride. He also held a special place in his heart for Isabella and Giavanna, whom he loved as granddaughters. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.

Thomas will be remembered for his dedication to his strong Catholic faith, his family, his love of country, his tireless work ethic, and his generous spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and integrity that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
