Shaun Fitzpatrick Sr., 90, of Somerset, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Cherished husband of Mary A. Dumais Fitzpatrick, Shaun was a proud graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Class of 1953. Following his education, he served honorably in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. Dedicated to his work, Shaun spent 34 years at the New England Telephone Company before retiring to devote his time to his beloved grandchildren.
Serving dual roles as the family videographer and photographer, he ensured that each and every family memory was thoughtfully captured. These memories will be shared for generations to come. His deep love for his family was evident in his generous nature and the joyful care he gave to both his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His jovial spirit lit up every room he entered and he certainly made an impact on all who were lucky enough to know him. Known as the ‘mayor of Aruba,’ he notoriously helped family and friends plan many vacations to his favorite place on earth - aside from being next to his beloved family. He was also a member of the Marine Corps League,1285 Detachment, Somerset.
In addition to his wife of over 70 years, he leaves three children, Shaun Fitzpatrick Jr. (wife Terri-Ann), Erin Fenton (husband Thomas) and Kevin C. Fitzpatrick (wife Theresa); five grandchildren, Meghan Fenton (wife Jennie), Amy Sauro (husband Peter), Neil Fitzpatrick (wife Megan), Kaitlin Costa (husband Jordan), Thomas Fenton; five great-grandchildren, Jaellyn, Izaiah, Dominic, Laney and Eliza.
He was the brother of the late James, Thomas, William, Kevin, Janice, Marilyn, and Maureen; and the son of the late James and Mabel (Scanlon) Fitzpatrick.
Although the loss of having him no longer earthbound has left an immeasurable ache in our hearts, we find comfort imagining him reunited in heaven with his beloved siblings, dear friends, and cherished dog Peanuts. We picture him laughing, singing along to Al Martino, and surrounded by the love and familiar faces that made his life so special. While our hearts grieve his absence here on Earth, we find solace knowing his spirit is free, his laughter rings out once more, and the music he loved and family movies he made will play on forever.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 28, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River. His funeral will be held Thursday, October 29, at 8:45 AM from the funeral home, with a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas More Church, Somerset, at 10:00 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the incredible staff at Charlton Memorial Hospital for their great care, kindness, and compassion that they provided to Shaun and his family.
