Seraphim "Bing" Machado, 93, of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2026. He was the loving husband of the late Mary D. “Del” (Medeiros) Machado.
Bing was born in Fall River to Seraphim Machado Sr. and Isabel (Vinhateiro) Machado and growing up he worked at his father's business, Seraphim's Market. Seraphim served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. After serving in the military, Bing married his sweetheart, Del and became a dedicated furniture maker and foreman for Harvey Probber, where he worked until the factory closed. He also worked at the Newport Naval Base, as part of the maintenance crew.
He enjoyed fishing, and bowling alongside his wife. Bing was a fan of the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, and the New England Patriots.
He enjoyed going to Jai Alai in Newport and to Foxwoods.
With a passion for carpentry, Bing built a house in his childhood neighborhood where he raised his family and lived out his years.
He enjoyed nothing more than building furniture for his family and loved ones. Bing loved talking to everyone, and always had a sense of humour, telling Dad jokes. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
Bing was preceded in death by his adoring wife; his siblings, Harold “Harry” Machado, Virginia Cummings, and Jerome “Jerry” Machado, and Mary Sisca.
He is survived by his daughters Debra “Debbie” Machado and Paula Lewin, his sons Mark Machado (wife Heather) and Gary Machado (wife Tammy); his grandchildren Lori Sowle Tripp, David Machado, Phillip Sowle (wife Laura), Kathryn Grande (husband Christopher), Seraphina Machado, Marius Machado, and Grace Machado. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Courtney Tripp, Noah Sowle, Savannah Sowle, and his great-great-granddaughter, Alyana Medeiros; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30th, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S. Main St, Fall River.
His Funeral will be held Saturday, January 31, at 9:00 AM from the Auclair Funeral Home, with a Funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Parish, Stafford Rd, at 10:00 A.M.
Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
