Ruth A. Francoeur, a beloved member of the Fall River community, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024, at the age of 94. Born on July 25, 1930, Ruth spent her entire life in Fall River, where she was not just a resident but a vibrant and cherished presence.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Roger A. Francoeur Sr., who she lovingly missed. She also lost her siblings, Thomas Marum Jr., Mary Gifford, and Rita Harding, whose memories she cherished dearly. Ruth was the daughter of Thomas Marum Sr. and Elizabeth (Little) Marum,
She enjoyed a fulfilling career as the secretary for Fall River Steam & Gas, where her organizational skills and warm personality left an indelible mark on her colleagues and friends alike. Ruth was an alumna of Dominican Academy, where her passion for learning blossomed.
Ruth's vibrant spirit was evident in her hobbies and interests. A devoted fan of Bingo, she approached every game with excitement and friendliness, often filling the room with laughter. Her love for reading opened worlds for her, while her knack for entering contests and sweepstakes brought her amazing prizes that she proudly shared with her family.
Family was everything to Ruth, and she took immense joy in celebrating each milestone with them. She is survived by her devoted sons, Roger A. Francoeur Jr. and his wife Mary Elizabeth, as well as Atty. John P. Francoeur, her daughter, Joyce Levesque and her husband Timothy, added immeasurable love to her life alongside her grandchildren: Jeffrey Francoeur (wife Karen), Jason Francoeur, and Samantha Francoeur, Lucas Francouer and Nicole Levesque (companion Jason Monchique), Erin Motta (husband David), Matthew Levesque (companion Joshua Carvalho), Ryan Levesque, and Justin Levesque (companion Lili Royds). Each grandchild brought their own unique light to her life.
Ruth was also the proud great-grandmother of Anthony Joseph "AJ" Francoeur, Abigail "Abby" Francoeur, Braydon Francoeur, Riley Francoeur, Taylor DeArruda, John Motta, Michael Motta, Arya Motta, Savannah Levesque, Jameson Levesque, Bella Levesque, and Adilyn Royds. These connections filled her heart with joy and tenderness, as she created priceless memories with each new generation. She also leaves nieces and nephews.
The legacy of love that Ruth leaves behind will surely endure in the hearts of those who knew her. Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life during her visitation at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River on October 8, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM. Entombment in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum to follow.
