Romeo L. Potvin, 91, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Center. He was born on June 29, 1934, in Fall River.
He was employed as a maintenance mechanic with Lightolier.
Romeo was known for his love of baseball, passionately supporting the Boston Red Sox. His enthusiasm for the game extended beyond fandom; he also dedicated his time as an umpire for both the CYO and Little League, contributing to the development of young athletes and fostering a love of the sport in others.
In addition to his love for baseball, Romeo enjoyed the camaraderie and fun of Friday night poker games with the guys.
Romeo is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Shirley T. (Carreiro) Potvin, and their two sons, Kenneth Potvin (wife Sheila) and David Potvin (wife Susan); his grandchildren—Derek Potvin (wife Jacqueline), Paul Cugini (wife Angie), Bethanie Amaral (husband Josh), Jennifer D'Amico, and Nicholas Potvin (wife Andrea); 9 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Robert Potvin, Jeanne Pelletier, Lauretta Michaud, Marguerite "Peggy" Landry, Normand Potvin, Alfred "Pete" Potvin Jr., and William Potvin.

A visitation will be held on Friday January 9, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Auclair Funeral Home, located at 690 South Main Street, Fall River, MA. Following this, a funeral service will take place at the funeral home, beginning at 11:30 AM.
Burial to follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
