Robert Maynard, 83, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with cancer.
Born on February 15, 1943, Robert was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Mary (Medeiros) Maynard. A lifelong resident of Fall River, Robert devoted his life to his family, his faith, and the community he loved.
A true man of the people, Robert was actively involved in local politics and public service. He proudly served on the Fall River School Committee for 13 years where he worked to support the city's students, families, and educators. He was also dedicated to serving the community through his involvement with the Fall River Council on Aging and his work at the Fall River Superior Court. Robert was respected for his compassion, integrity, and genuine desire to help others, leaving a lasting impact on the city he called home.
Above all, Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Bernadette Maynard; his loving daughters, Susan Pavao and Karen Lopes; his cherished grandchildren, Michael Pavao, Melissa Barbosa, and Mya Lopes; and several treasured great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind extended family members, dear friends, and countless members of the Fall River community who will remember him with affection and gratitude.
A devoted Catholic, Robert's faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He will be remembered for his kindness, humility, generosity, and unwavering commitment to serving others. His legacy of faith, family, and public service will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
At the family's request, funeral services will be private. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Church. Robert will be laid to rest at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Fall River.
The Maynard family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love, prayers, and support they have received during this difficult time. May Robert rest in the eternal peace of God's loving embrace.
