Robert “Bob” Costa, of Westport, passed away Sunday, December 5th, 2021, after a short illness. He was the husband of 61 years to Paulette (Lamontagne) Costa. Born in Fall River, Bob was the son of Manual Costa and Irene (Gagne) Costa. A graduate of Monsignor Prevost High School, Bob also earned a certificate in management skills from Northeastern University. He was employed by the Stop & Shop companies for over 40 years both as a store manager and in operations. A lifelong sports fan who loved hockey, baseball, and football, Bob was a member of the Prevost High School state championship baseball team of 1955. He was a longtime season ticket holder for both the Rhode Island Reds hockey team and his beloved New England Patriots. He would always share with all, how he was able to witness some of the team's greatest games with his family and friends at Gillette Stadium. He was an original board member of the Fall River Youth Hockey Association which finally brought the sport of ice hockey from Boston, to the greater Fall River region during the reign of Bobby Orr and the “Big Bad Bruins”.
Bob is survived by his three sons, Robert Costa, Jr. and his wife Michelle, Brian Costa and his wife Dawn, and Jason Costa and his wife Randi), of Westport. He was the brother of Donald Costa of Providence, Rhode Island and David Costa of Somerset. Bob was especially proud of his eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Saturday, December 11, from 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. at Auclair Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 A.M. at Saint John the Baptist Church, Main Road, Westport. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery.
