It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Richard (Dick) E. Berube of Westport, MA on, Thursday February 17, 2022, unexpectedly at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was 82 years of age. Dick was born on January 7, 1940, to Roland E. and Annie E. (Stuart) Berube. He grew up in Fall River, MA where he met his beloved wife of 60 years, Shirley A. (Pimental) Berube, then settled in Westport, MA where they have lived since 1970.
Dick was a Union Master Bricklayer (Local 39) for Thirty-seven years where he established a reputation for hard work and ability that is still talked about in the Union training classes to this day. Completely devoted to his family, he would do anything for them. Being a genuine soul with a personality like no other he was brutally honest but would tell you in a way that would make you laugh and loved nothing better than talking to his large circle of lifelong friends and family as much as he could, whether it be in the garage or on the phone, telling stories about work, growing up in Fall River and of course Tom Brady and the Red Sox. Dick had a passion for vintage cars and restored many over the years and could jitterbug with the best of them. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. Loved to fish with his (kid) brother and grandsons. He adored his Two daughters as well as Three grandchildren and was always so proud of them. He was the best Father-in-law of all time. If you ever met Dick Berube, you would remember him, he was that kind of guy.
In addition to his wife Shirley, he is survived by his daughters Deborah Cooney and her husband Joseph Cooney of Rochester, MA, Robyn Berube-Goncalo of Fall River, MA, Grandchildren: Brendon, Hunter and Madison Cooney, Sisters: the late Shirley Berube, Barbara Jean Silva of Fall River, MA, Brother Thomas (Tommy) Berube of Fall River, MA, many nieces, nephews, and Godchildren. There will be a Mass at Our Lady of Grace Church located at 569 Sanford Road in Westport, MA on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can made in Dick’s memory to: St. Jude Children Research Hospital: 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at an animal shelter of your choice.
