Richard A. Martel

Richard A. Martel, 80, of Fall River, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025. He was the husband of Linda V. (Marciarelli) Martel, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.

Born on January 16, 1945, he was the son of the late Oscar R. "Red" and Rosalie (Canuel) Martel.

A Vietnam veteran serving in the Air Force, Richard was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in Tiverton, RI, and the Disabled American Veterans of Fall River, where he worked to honor the memories of his comrades, particularly those who served as Prisoners of War and Missing in Action.

Richard enjoyed model trains and spent many hours working in his hobby room.

Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his beloved daughters, Wendy Rapoza and Lisa Hackett as well as his cherished son, Richard P. Martel (wife Jennifer); his grandchildren: Kelsey Rapoza, Madison Rapoza, Riley Martel, Lily Martel, Gracie Martel, Nathan Hackett, Chace Hackett, and Eric Hackett, Jr.; his sister, Doris Copley, and his nephews, Christopher Copley and Scott Copley. He is also predeceased by his brother, Robert Martel.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Atwood 4.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., with a funeral service in the funeral home at 11:00 A.M., at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S. Main St, Fall River. Burial to follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
