Pauline Blanche (Talbot) Charest, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
Pauline was born in Fall River, MA, on June 3, 1937, to the late Ovide J. and Emma (née Fluet) Talbot. She graduated from Dominican Academy in Fall River, class of 1955, and began working for United Merchants & Manufacturers.
In 1971, she met Louis Roger Charest, and they married on October 2nd, 1971. They settled in Tiverton and raised three sons. Pauline devoted her life in the service of her family, always putting others' needs before her own. A voracious reader, Pauline kept a list of the many hundreds of books she read. She could often be found in an armchair by the window, a book in her hands and a cat on her lap. Throughout her adult life, Pauline fought a long battle with multiple sclerosis, but she never allowed her condition to limit or define her. Her quiet, everyday courage was an inspiration to all who knew her. Since 2018, Pauline resided at Mill Brook Rehabilitation and Health Care in Fall River.
Pauline is survived by her three sons, Marc Charest, Brian Charest, and Jeffrey Charest (Olivia). She also leaves one grandson, Louis J. Charest, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, her brother Fernand D. Talbot, and her devoted husband of 51 years.
Pauline’s family would like to thank the staff of Care Dimensions Hospice House, in Lincoln, MA, where she spent her final weeks.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 6, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St., Fall River. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 12:00 PM. Entombment, Notre Dame Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (www.nationalmssociety.org), or to the Friends of Tiverton Libraries (Donate), 34 Roosevelt Avenue, Tiverton, RI 02878.
