Paul Leonard Rioux, 67, of Fall River, MA passed away at home on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Cicelea Marie of Hebron, CT, and his partner Susan Berube of Fall River, MA. The son of the late Donald and Ida Rioux, Paul was one of four siblings: Stephen Rioux and wife Susan of Scarborough, ME, David Rioux and wife Catherine of East Machias, ME, and Barbara Vye and husband David of Newburyport, MA.
Born and raised in Fall River, Paul spent summer breaks as a boy working side by side with his uncle, where he developed a lifelong love for working with his hands and learned early the importance of helping others. He went on to attend Fitchburg State College and later moved to Houston to start his family and grow his skills in construction. Over the years, Paul raised more than homes — he built friendships that lasted a lifetime, from Texas to Massachusetts.
Family meant everything to Paul. He loved his daughter, Cicelea, with all his heart. Paul shared his life with his partner, Susan, for the past 4 years. They were a great match, always teasing, laughing, and having fun together. Paul was truly part of Susan’s family, embracing them as his own, especially their granddaughter Adrianna. He had a large extended family and remained close to his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. His brothers and sister, their spouses, and their families could always count on Paul to show up, especially for holidays and gatherings. He found real joy in cooking for big family get-togethers, bringing people together with warmth, laughter, and unforgettable meals.
If someone in his family and friends needed anything; help fixing a leak, building a deck, a ride, or just a little support, Paul was the first person they called. He showed up without question, always ready to lend a hand. He gave with his whole heart, whether he was sharing his skills, dropping off a basket of tomatoes from his garden, picking flowers just because, or cooking up a perfectly fried turkey or a pot of littlenecks for a crowd. Paul did these things not for recognition, but because that’s who he was, loving, generous, and deeply rooted in the people around him. He was also a great storyteller, keeping the history and humor of his family and chosen community alive with every tale. One of the most important people in his life was his dear friend Mark Azar, who was like a brother to him and stood by his side through thick and thin.
Paul had the best sense of humor. He made people laugh wherever he went — sometimes a bit of a smart aleck, always quick with a comeback, but always warm and welcoming. His joy and sharp wit were a big part of what made being around him so special.
Paul will be remembered for his kindness, his stubbornness, his laughter, his stories, and the way he made everyone feel at home.
