Norman A. Rivard, 72, of Rehoboth, formerly of Freetown, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at Warren Skilled Nursing after a brief illness. He was a man whose life was marked by devotion, warmth, and a love for family that touched all who knew him.
At the heart of Norman’s life was his beloved wife, Cheryl A.(Martines) Rivard, who passed in 2018, the love of his life and constant companion. Their partnership was one of deep respect and affection, providing a foundation of support and joy throughout the years. Norman’s affectionate spirit extended warmly to his grandsons, whom he adored and cherished. His social nature made family gatherings a source of great happiness, where his presence brought light and laughter to every occasion.
Norman dedicated his career to the skilled craft of machining, working with General Dynamics and later H & S Tools, where he ultimately retired. He often spoke fondly of the camaraderie and friendships formed during his years on the job, treasuring the time spent alongside his colleagues.
He was also known for his weekend excursions with his boys—memories of these trips are a testament to the joy he found in spending quality time with those closest to him. Beyond his love for his family and friends, Norman had a passion for baking. His skills in the kitchen were celebrated by all who had the pleasure of tasting his creations; he was truly a great baker, adding sweetness not only to desserts but to the lives of those around him.
He leaves a son, Ryan Rivard and his wife Melissa, grandsons, Mathis and Colson Rivard of Rehoboth; a sister, Caron Gauthier, her husband Paul and nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late Norman T. Rivard and Louise (Walkden) Rivard.
