Norberto Raposo, 81, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Charlton Memorial Hosptial in Fall River, Massachusetts, at the age of 81. Born on July 25, 1944, in Feteiras do Sul, São Miguel, Açores Norberto was known for his warmth and dedication to his family, finding his greatest joy in spending time with them. He was the loving husband of 55 years to Maria E. (Carreiro) Raposo. He was employed by Foye-Letendre Landscaping until his retirement and was a parishioner of Santo Christo Parish.
He is remembered for his unwavering dedication, particularly in the last two years of his life, during which he provided constant support and care for his beloved wife after she suffered a stroke. Norberto's love and commitment shone brightly in these times, reflecting the depth of his character and his profound sense of duty.
A passionate fan of Benfica Soccer, he found joy in celebrating his team. He also had a unique talent for whistling, a delightful hobby that brought smiles to those around him.
Norberto was a proud veteran, having served in the Portuguese Army for three years. This experience shaped his character and instilled in him a strong sense of duty and responsibility. After his time in the military, he built a life filled with love and laughter alongside his wife, Maria.
His legacy is carried on by his cherished daughter, Bertha Reis (her husband John), and son, Victor Raposo. He was a devoted grandfather to Brendan Reis (girlfriend Nathalia) and Dillon Raposo (his mother Sheri Gonsalves Raposo), who meant the world to him. Norberto's house was always filled with laughter, and he created countless treasured moments with his family.
Norberto had a passion for yard work, often seen tending to his garden with care. He took pleasure in making his own red wine, sharing it with family and friends during gatherings, and relishing the sense of community it fostered.
Norberto was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Raposo and Gloria (Bernardo) Raposo, as well as his sister, Maria Jose Bergantin.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the team of doctors and nurses at the critical care unit for their exceptional care.
Their compassion and professionalism made a significant difference during a profoundly difficult time.
Visitation services will be held at Auclair Funeral Home, located at 690 South Main Street, Fall River, MA, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 3, at 8:00 AM from the funeral home, with a Funeral Mass to follow at 9:00 AM at Santo Christo Church, 185 Canal Street.
