Nelson W. "Bill" Julius, Jr. of Fall River, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2024, at the age of 89. He was the husband of Lorraine J. (Bernier) Julius. Born on March 6, 1935, in Winthrop, Massachusetts, Nelson led a life characterized by dedication, service, and a deep commitment to his family and community.
A veteran, Nelson served in the United States Navy for two decades, attaining the rank of 1st Engine Man during the tumultuous years of the Vietnam War. His commitment to serving his country was matched by his subsequent work as a diesel mechanic for Cummings Diesel in Canton, MA, where he continued to demonstrate his technical skills and work ethic.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Nelson was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 486, reflecting his deep commitment to fellow veterans and the values they shared. During retirement, he along with his wife particularly enjoyed attending yard sales, and family cookouts and gatherings.
Nelson is survived by his wife Lorraine, and was a cherished father to his three sons: Nelson W. Julius III, Christopher L. Julius and his wife Susan, and James M. Julius and his wife Tracey. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Kyle, Lyndsey, Cody, Noah, Kristen, Matthew, Nicholas, Kelsey, and great-grandchildren Kaiden, Deklan, Morgan, Grayson, and Madelyn.
He is predeceased by his parents, Nelson Julius, Sr. and Edna (Murray) Julius, his daughter Diane Julius, and his siblings, David Julius and Theresa Peterman.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on September 10, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Auclair Funeral Home, located at 690 South Main Street, Fall River, MA, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM. Interment at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:30 PM.
Nelson W. Julius, Jr. will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, love for family, and his steadfast commitment to his country. He leaves behind a legacy of service and devotion that will be cherished by all who knew him.
