Neil T. Melker, a cherished member of the community and a dedicated public servant, departed this world on October 17, 2024, at the age of 60, in Somerset, Massachusetts. Born on October 22, 1963, in Boston, Neil exemplified a life marked by commitment, compassion, and an unwavering spirit.
His professional journey began with a commendable tenure at the Fall River Fire Department, where he devoted his career, selflessly serving and protecting the lives of many. After his retirement, Neil devoted his skills and time to assisting his wife Lori A. (Carroll) Melker, in her family's business, Carroll Appraisals for the past 10 years.
Neil's passions extended beyond his professional life. He found joy in the simple pleasures, relishing moments spent on the ocean, particularly in the company of the local islands, including Cuttyhunk, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket. He loved cooking and he delighted in perfecting his version of chicken nuggets. His favorite food was peanut butter on French fries
He is survived by his devoted wife, Lori; his twin brother, Patrick (wife Joyce) Melker, as well as his cherished niece and nephew, Cassandra and Alexander Melker.
Neil was preceded in death by his father, Howard Melker, and his mother, Mary(O'Neil) Melker.
Friends and family are invited to honor Neil's life and legacy during visitation and funeral services to be held at Auclair Funeral Home, located at 690 South Main Street, Fall River, MA 02721. The visitation will commence on October 26, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with a funeral service during the visitation, at 5:30 PM.
