Nazaret DeJesus (Sardinha) Goncalves

Nazaret DeJesus (Sardinha) Goncalves, 98, formerly of Somerset, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Joaquim DaCosta Goncalves. Born in Viana do Alentejo, Portugal, she was the daughter of Antonio and Palmira Lopes Sardinha.

Together with her husband, Nazaret ran a tavern in Portugal, where they built their life and legacy. She was a talented seamstress with a passion for creating beautiful clothes and wool sweaters and found great joy in cooking. Her adventurous spirit and willingness to embrace new experiences brought vibrancy to all who knew her.

Nazaret is remembered with love by her daughter, Maria P. Goncalves, and her son, John C. Goncalves, both of Somerset. She was a sister to the late Maria Antonia Povoa and the late Tulino Sardinha.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 9, from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St., Fall River, at 9:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at Saint Patrick Cemetery, Robeson Street, Fall River. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army Food Bank, 290 Bedford Street, Fall River, MA 02720.

Nazaret's creative, optimistic spirit and her warmth will forever be treasured by those she touched.
