Merces (Barroso) Branco

Merces (Barroso) Branco, 76, of Swansea, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. She was the loving wife of Hermano Branco.

Born in Rabo de Peixe, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Conceicao (Estrella) Barroso.

For many years Maria worked as a seamstress. She enjoyed cooking and cleaning. Most of all, Maria loved spending time with her family. 

She is survived by her children, Herman Branco Jr. (wife Kelma), Victor Branco (wife Beth), Jane Medeiros (husband Gary), Michael Branco, and Sandra Branco (partner Keith Schmit); her grandchildren, Mayson Branco, Madyson Branco, Austin Medeiros, Kory Medeiros, Conner Medeiros, Mackenzie Branco, and Alexis Pimental; her great-grandchildren; Stella Medeiros, Amelia Luz, and her great-grandchild on the way, Colton Medeiros; and her sister, Olinda. She is survived by a very large family including many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings Gloria DeMelo, Joe Barroso, and Eugenia Grillo.

Her Funeral will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, with a visitation from 8:00 to 10:30 A.M., at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S. Main St., Fall River. Followed by a Funeral Mass at Santo Christo Church, 240 Columbia St, Fall River, at 11:00 A.M.. Burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery, 2233 Robeson St, Fall River.
