Mary "May" Arruda

Mary "May" Arruda, 90, of Fall River, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Capalas, St.Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel D. and Anna T. (Oliveira) Arruda.
She was employed as a sewing machine operator in the garment industry.
May, as she was called by her family, enjoyed knitting, talking politics, watching classic movies and comedy shows, having a small glass of "vino" with her evening meal, and spending time with her family.

She leaves behind two sisters: Mary C. Arruda; and Leonilde Henley and her husband Philip Henley Jr.;  five nieces and nephews: Kenneth Henley; Linda Henley; Anne Henley; Christopher Henley and his companion, Susan Carreiro; and Christine Cowen and her husband, David Cowen. She was also the beloved great-aunt to Courtney Henley, Rebecca Cowen, and the late Jennifer Henley.

A devoted Catholic, her funeral was private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Forever Paws Animal Shelter, 300 Lynwood St. Fall River, MA 02721.
