Marilyn (Velozo) Lafond

Marilyn (Velozo) Lafond, 94, of Fall River, wife of the late Marcel R. Lafond, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School Class of 1946 and the Fall River Business Institute, Marilyn worked as a secretary at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, retiring in 1993. Marilyn and her late husband operated the former Ruggles Park Variety Store. She was a Marian Medal Recipient, a member of the Sacred Heart Senior Citizen Club, a Sacred Heart Soup Kitchen Volunteer, and a Lector and Greeter at Sacred Heart Parish.

She leaves three children, Jean Marie Galego (husband Michael), Paul K. Lafond (wife Nancy), and William J. Lafond (wife Gloria); grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer), Erin (Nicholas), Brendan (Lauren), Kristen (Richard), and Craig, and Katlyn; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Amari, Mya, Liani, Milo, Wyatt, Julian, Jerry, Dominic, Asthon, and Oliver; a brother, Donald A. Velozo (late wife Shirley), a sister-in-law Joan Lafond.

She was the daughter of the late Antone and Mary (Coughlin) Velozo.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S. Main St., Fall River, with a Funeral Mass in Holy Name Church, Fall River, at 10 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Fall River, MA.
