Maria Lourdes (Pimentel) Carreiro

Maria Lourdes (Pimentel) Carreiro, 88, of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born on September 14, 1937, in the town of Agua de Pau, Sao Miguel, Azores, Maria's life was one marked by dedication, creativity, and love.

Maria spent many years working at South Bay Coat in Fall River. She was a talented seamstress whose passion for crocheting, knitting, cross-stitching, and sewing was evident in every beautiful piece she created. Her skill extended to making drapes not only for her home but for her family's as well—a testament to her generosity and care, gifts her loved ones will cherish forever.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jose Tobias Carreiro. Also departed before her were her parents, Antonio Vieira Pimentel and Julieta Silva Pimentel.

Maria’s family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her daughter, Maria Grace Medeiros and her husband Mark of Tiverton, RI; and her son, Carlos A. Carreiro and his partner Aaron Snyder of Warren RI; her brother, Carlos Pimentel and his wife Zulmira, and her nieces and goddaughters, Carmen Pimentel and Wendy Goulart, all of Toronto, Canada.  

A visitation will be held Thursday, May 28, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River. Her funeral will be held Friday, May 29, at 9:00 AM from the funeral home, with a Funeral Mass in Santo Christo Church, Columbia St., at 10:00 AM.

Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
