Maria Cabral

Maria Cabral, 93, of Fall River, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025. She was the wife of the late Fernando I. Cabral.

Born on October 31, 1931, in Mosteiros, São Miguel, Azores, Maria was the daughter of Jose and Helena (Carvalho) Bettencourt.

As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Maria's legacy is one of compassion and creativity. Maria found immense joy in cooking for her family, showcasing her special skills in baking with a particular passion for decorating wedding cakes. Her culinary creations, infused with love, were central to countless family gatherings where laughter and happiness flourished. Maria’s artistic talents were complemented by her love for music; she enjoyed singing and sharing melodies with those around her. This joyful expression resonated in the hearts of her family, creating cherished memories that will last forever.

She is survived by her cherished children, Maria Paiva (husband Joseph), Francisco Jose Cabral (wife Carol), Jose C. Cabral, and Paul J. Cabral (wife Tracie Lee); her nine grandchildren, Michael Paiva (wife Kerry), Christie Ferriera (husband John), Eric Paiva (Maddy), Joshua Paiva (Heather), Cori Lopes (husband Cory), Aaron Cabral (Sierra), Brandyn Cabral, Kayla Cabral and Jacob Cabral and eight great-grandchildren, Preston, Ava, Tyler, Willow, Alexa, Ari, Kameron and Asher; her sister, Germana Cabral.

She was predeceased by her children, Fernando M. Cabral and Conceicao Cabral, her siblings, Manuel Bettencourt, Jose Bettencourt, Dimas Bettencourt, Mary Jose Medeiros and Theresa Fragata. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 1, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River.

Her funeral will be held Friday, May 2, at 8:30 from the funeral home with a Funeral Mass in Santo Christo Church, Columbia St. ,at 9:30 AM.
