Manuel A Tavares

Manuel A. Tavares, 83, of Fall River, husband of Ilda (Rego) Tavares, died Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Saint Anne's Hospital. Born in Santa Barbara, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel Tavares Do Porto and Maria Jesus Aguiar.
He was employed by Rhode Island Nurseries Inc. He enjoyed fishing and was a Benfica Soccer fan.
Besides his wife of 57 years, he leaves three children, Alfredo M. Tavares (and his wife Helen Couto) of Westport, Maria DePacheco (husband Carlos A. Pacheco) of Fall River and Theresa Elliot of Canada;
four grandchildren, Jason Pacheco, Ally Rodrigues, Cassandra Melo and Nathan Tavares;
Five great-grandchildren, Destiny, Miranda, Kassidy, Mia and Elan; two siblings, Adrien and Cecilia, many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jose, Maria, Ludevina, Joao, Antonio and Artur.

His funeral will be held Friday at 9:00 A.M. from Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Michael Church, Essex St. at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M.
