Lucy (Raposo) De.Melo, 65, of Fall River, loving wife of the late
Joseph L. De.Melo, passed into eternal life Tuesday, March 1, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Capalas, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Ilda (Raposo) Melo. She moved to the United States in 1967.
Devotion: a deep love, loyal, an act of giving – this was our mom.
Lucy was a beautiful soul that showed the world what having the heart of a servant truly looked like. She was selfless in every way; filled with compassion and empathy for loved ones and strangers alike. She expressed great love in everything she did and with everyone she encountered. Even in her final days of great suffering she found ways to continue to keep giving. She had an amazing talent for cooking, enjoyed family gatherings, laughing and vacationing with friends, praying, and ensuring that everyone she knew was well taken care of. She was always the first to lend a helping hand - what some would consider a hardship our mom considered a privilege. Remaining will be nothing but beautiful memories that will be treasured by many.
She leaves three children, Linda Medeiros (late husband Justin), Joshua De.Melo (wife Jennifer), and Angela De.Melo; four grandchildren, Alyssa, Kendall, Peyton and Luke Medeiros; siblings, Lina Belchior (husband Luis) Neomi Albergaria (husband Richard), George Melo and Natalie Sousa; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John Melo and Jerry Melo.
Lucy, which means “Bringer of Light”, you made a profound mark in this world and it will be so dim without you in it.
Mom, we are honored to carry this deep grief because you are so worthy of our tears.
“Honor her for all that her hands have done and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”
Proverbs 31:31
