Lucille J. Hargraves

Lucille (Gosselin) Hargraves, 81, widow of the late William R. Hargraves, Jr., passed away surrounded by the legacy of life devoted to family, caring for other, and serving her community.

Born to the late George and Lillian Gosselin, Lucille was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School and the Truesdale School of Nursing. She went on to enjoy a long career as a Registered Nurse, beginning at Truesdale Hospital.

Her compassion for the elderly continued throughout her professional career. She served as the Executive Director of the Fall River, Highland, Riverview and Somerset Adult Day Care Centers. She also worked at the Landmark of Fall River and Autumn Glenn at Dartmouth Assisted Living Centers, where her nursing experience and commitment to the care of others remained at the heart of her work.

In addition to her love of nursing, Lucille is survived by her loving children, Kelly Machado  and her fiancé, Scott Alexander of Somerset; Seth T. Hargraves and Elizabeth; and Colleen White of Surprise, AZ. She was predeceased by her beloved son-in-law, Phoenix police officer Eric White, who was killed in the line of duty.

She was the cherished grandmother of six grandchildren, Meaghan and Kaitlan Machado; Alexia and Connor White, and Keegan and Kennedy Hargraves; and the proud great grandmother to Samori Hargraves.

Lucille will be remembered for her gentle spirit, caring heart, and strong work ethic. Whether caring for patients, supporting families, or offering guidance to colleagues and friends, she touched countless lives with her warmth and compassion.

Her legacy will endure through the countless people whose lives she enriched, her cherished family, and the lasting values of compassion, service, and resilience that she instilled in others.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Lucille’s life from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Miss Lizzie’s Coffee, 100 Rock Street, Fall River, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lucille’s memory may be made to Family Service Association’s Adult Day Health Program. She took great pride in helping to establish and nurture Highland Adult Day Care, a program that continues today as part of Family Service Association.
