Lucille M. (Misenti) Durost, 83, of Tiverton, RI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Saint Anne’s Hospital. Born in Meriden, CT, on May 21, 1942, she was the cherished daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Serra) Misenti.
Lucille’s early years laid the foundation of her enduring faith and character. She graduated from St. Rose of Lima School in 1956, carrying forward the values instilled there throughout her life. A proud member of the Maloney High School Class of 1960, Lucille was affectionately named “Most Shy” by her classmates.
Over the years, Lucille was known for her sharp mind, and meticulous work ethic in financial record keeping for a variety of businesses until her retirement. For the past 25 years, she was a dedicated member of St. Philip Church in East Windsor, where her devotion and kindness touched many.
Lucille is survived by her husband Gary Durost, though separated, they remained connected through family; her devoted sons: Christopher (Kimberly) Durost, Todd (Phaedra) Durost, and Scot (Renee) Durost. She leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: Taylor Durost (Marisa Sevigny), Mason Durost, Haley Durost, Cayman Durost, Sydney (Justin) Ariani, Jack Durost, and Caroline Durost. She will also be lovingly remembered by her nephews, Stanley, Peter, and Michael Otlowski and the entire Otlowski family.
She was predeceased by her dear sisters, Josephine Otlowski and Patricia Horozy, who were not only family but her closest friends.
Lucille found great joy in the company of her family, preparing delicious Italian meals, and generously knitting and crocheting blankets for those in need. In her youth, she enjoyed many summer gatherings at their family home in Old Saybrook, or at the family-owned Angelo’s Snack Bar in Meriden.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 11 a.m. in St. Sebastian Church, 155 Washington St., Middletown, CT. 06457. There will be no public calling hours. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
