Louis Lucindo Raposa III, 70, of Taunton and formerly of Swansea, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born on July 14, 1955, in Fall River, Louis was the son of the late Louis Lucindo Raposa Jr. and Patricia (Adams) Raposa.

Louis devoted 26 years of his nursing career to the Rose Hawthorne Lathrop Home in Fall River, followed by 15 years at the Fall River Jewish Home, from where he retired. His compassion and dedication have left a lasting impact on those he served. He was a proud graduate of the Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School Nursing Program.

A passionate musician for over 50 years, and a Secular Franciscan, Louis shared his talent by playing the guitar in church, touching the hearts of many through his music, especially with the children. He also was fond of outer space, his Sci-Fi shows, and hiking. His favorite pastimes were road trips and enjoying nature with his wife Gayle.

Family was everything to Louis. He was the husband of Gayle C. (Simonin) Raposa, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage, having built a life together over the last 49 years. He also leaves three daughters, Vanessa Catherine Raposa and her fiancé Ricardo Dias, Diana Francis Raposa Kirkman and her husband Mark Joseph Kirkman, and Monica Rae Raposa Almeida and her husband Ruben Almeida; four grandchildren: Shae Verville, Ruben Almeida, Jr., Nathan Almeida, and Maya Kirkman, and a great-granddaughter on the way. He also is survived by his siblings, Elizabeth Gadoury, Brian Raposa and his wife Carolyn Raposa, and Anne Marie Reed; Godchildren, Marisa Raposa and Timothy Reed, along with Aunts, Uncles, numerous nieces, nephews and many cousins.

His favorite quote was, “Live Long & Prosper”

Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass to be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 2, 2026 at Episcopal Church of St. Thomas

Everyone is invited to a luncheon immediately following the Funeral Mass in the church hall.
